The Crow page logo

Prepaints are not particularly my 'bag', however when it comes to The Crow they are a necessary evil so to speak. For a cult film there is a surprisingly big market out there and a number of companies have dipped their toes in the water as can be seen below.

1:6 Inteleg Crow.
This was one of the few 'official' releases that were commissioned following the release of the original fim. There were at least four versions: a hollow vinyl kit, a resin prepaint with coat, a resin prepaint without coat and a bronzed edition. The prepaints are easier to get hold off then the kits, and recently a few of the bronzed versions have appeared for sale.

Dragonfly Crow.
It took me a while to get to grips with this Dragonfly release sculpted by Gabriel Marquez, the reason being there were so many variations of it. This is 7" mini statue "Dance of The Dead" in its regular incarnation, limited to 1250 worldwide. All of them, were official releases endorsed by Crow creator James OBarr, and many signed versions have appeared for sale.

Also released as a 7" mini statue was the now rare "Red Variant" which was restricted to 100 copies worldwide.

Dance of the Dead Ultra Bloody 12" version. You will note that although this was the 'Ultra' Bloody variant Dragonfly used the 7" image in its publicity material. 550 copies of this version were released worldwide.

Dragonfly
Only 250 copies of the Monster Mania "Red Nights" variant were produced, making it one of the rarer 12" versions.

Dragonfly Crow
Dragonfly released 'The Return' almost simultaneously with the above figure, and again it appeared in a variety of versions: regular, bloody, Atrocity and winter varients. This one was also sculpted by Gabriel Marquez who based it on a early piece that he had produced for his own company.

NECA Crow
The observant among you will have noted that this figure also appeared in the kit section, the reason for this is that it was a prepainted solid vinyl kit. Standing 13" tall it comes complete with a church roof base and weather vein

Streamline
One piece resin prepaint from Streamline pictures, who also produced the Ashe resin kit from The Crow: City of Angels.

NECA
This was one of two NECA releases that measured in at a hefty 18" in height. This one came without a base but with 5 electronic phrases that were motion activated. Came with a Crow and necklace.

NECA
Double figure action pack that features The Crow (Draven) and Top Dollar from the final fight scene atop the Church roof in the original movie.

This would appear to be a re-working of the old Inteleg piece issued in the 90's.

Go Large
I know nothing about this piece. It would appear to be a conversion of the NECA 12" doll using a head from one of the 1:6 scale NECA resin busts - but I could of course be wrong.

This was a one off piece commissioned by a friend, Alexei, from Dwayne Thompson of Australia (links for both can be found below). Unfortunately I do not have a bigger image.

I haven't discovered anyone who has any definitive information about this figure. All that we can be sure of is that it was produced (sculpted) by Scott Novak, but whether it was conceived as a kit, a prepaint or a 'one-off' is anybodies guess.

Go Large
This is similar to the Scott Novak piece above, in other words a piece about which little is known. I have seen something similar that used the 'Comet Miniatures' Crow figure, which was a scratchbuild and to be honest this one has the same feel about it.

I don't know anything about this piece other than it is supposed to be a 'talking' action figure.

Perhaps the first Crow 'action' figure. Came with a simple stand and 'Movie Maniacs' back drop.

Came across an Australian site belonging to Dwayne Tompson who
specialises in one off figures and sculpts. Although not truely kits
I felt they deserved a mention.
